Working Equitation Florida

Become a WEFL Working Equitation Recommended Trainer

WEFL is looking for a small, motivated group of riders, trainers, and horse professionals who want mentoring, education, and a clearer pathway toward teaching Working Equitation with confidence and credibility.

Working Equitation is growing in Florida, but there are still too few knowledgeable instructors available to help new riders get started and support developing competitors close to home.

That makes it harder for the sport to grow in a healthy, sustainable way.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to teach this,” or “my clients would enjoy Working Equitation,” this pathway may be for you.

What this pathway is

The WEFL Trainer Pathway Program is being developed as a guided educational on-ramp for riders and professionals who want to become more competent, more prepared, and more connected as Working Equitation teachers.

It is not presented as a substitute for any USAWE program, and it is not a certification program at this time. Instead, it is designed to help serious participants build practical teaching skills, strengthen their understanding of the sport, and gain access to educational opportunities as WEFL expands trainer development in Florida.

What this pathway may include

As the program develops, participants may receive access to opportunities such as:

  • Mentoring and guidance in how to begin teaching Working Equitation responsibly and effectively.
  • Educational clinics and trainer-focused workshops covering dressage, obstacles, speed strategy, horse development, and rider progression.
  • Opportunities to observe experienced professionals, clinicians, judges, and skilled competitors.
  • Discussion of teaching standards, safety, lesson structure, and how to introduce riders and horses to the sport.
  • Priority notice about future WEFL trainer education events and related professional development opportunities.
  • Visibility in WEFL communications as part of a developing network of trainer candidates and education-minded professionals.

WEFL’s goal is to make the path clearer, more local, and more practical for Florida professionals who want to grow into this role.

Who we’re looking for

You may be a great fit if you are:

  • A trainer or instructor who wants to add Working Equitation to your program.
  • A rider or competitor who wants to grow into teaching.
  • A barn owner, clinician, or horse professional looking to expand your skills and services.
  • Someone who values good horsemanship, sound fundamentals, and continued education.

We are especially interested in people who want to help grow the sport in Florida in a thoughtful, professional way.

What you’ll need to invest

This pathway is meant for people who are ready to take the idea seriously.

Participants should expect to:

  • Maintain a WEFL Pro or Founder membership with a Pro listing.
  • Stay engaged with WEFL educational opportunities as they become available.
  • Be open to travel for clinics, workshops, and mentorship opportunities when appropriate.
  • Invest time in improving both riding skill and teaching skill.
  • Support the growth of Working Equitation in Florida through participation, volunteering, and professionalism.

In return, WEFL aims to create stronger educational support, clearer professional pathways, and more opportunities for trainers who want to be part of the sport’s future.
