Rebecca Algar is an international trainer, competitor and clinician based in Dunnellon, Florida, twenty minutes from the World Equestrian Center. She started in the UK as a three-day event rider and was awarded a scholarship to ride dressage in Germany under Gerhard Bock (past Olympic coach). That led to a fascination with classical dressage and a two-year scholarship to study in Spain.

Back in the UK, Rebecca began buying, riding and training American Quarter Horses, became a full-time part of the growing Western and Quarter Horse business in Europe, and eventually bought a ranch in Texas and moved to the USA in 1995. After 20+ years training cutting horses, she returned to her roots in US Dressage with good success, then found Working Equitation after seeing Pedro Torres and Oxidado in the Speed Round.

What she loves most about Working Equitation is the diversity of training it requires and the camaraderie between competitors. She became a WEFL Founding Member because she wants to get the sport off the ground in Florida. Her advice to anyone new: get involved.
